A Wonderful Tale from an Ever-Growing Author

Mr. McCloskey's skills as a writer have grown substantially since his first outing, and this story is a testament to that fact. He has managed to craft a story that feels fresh and new in a universe that has been around for nearly half a decade.
His characters feel alive and fully realized, and the AI assistants that he has carefully crafted offer a stunning insight into the benefits and pitfalls of where our technology may one day be. Exploring the subject of self-realization alongside a big helping of danger and adventure, McCloskey puts a new spin on the age-old question: "What Makes a Man?"
My only complaint with this story is that it is meant to be a stand-alone adventure, but near the end he speaks of events in the main PIT universe which might be confusing to any newcomers. If you're even vaguely following the main PIT storyline, however, this shouldn't be a problem.
A wonderful tale from an ever-growing author. I can't wait to read more like this!

A great read!

While I am a fan of Mccloskey's work in general, this is a truly unique look into the life and decision making of a extraordinary individual. The root question is, what makes the man.
Michael McCloskey has the unusual skill to put you in the mind of any one he chooses. It is rare to find an author with this level of perception of alternate thought processes coupled with the skill necessary to put the reader into any mind he chooses. I enjoyed this book immensely.

Excellent developed characters and delightfully fast plot

The created links several of McClowskey's books (the PIT series, the Eimar Beacon) into a unified whole. I greatly enjoyed the opening and his cast of characters are amazing. To me the title makes a lot of sense after you finish reading the book. I was a little bit sad that after the strong introduction the book continues with a more expected pattern, but there are sufficient surprises to keep you entertained and despite the delightfully slow progress of hydrangea events follow each other up rapidly. I still prefer his Force Cantrithor but this book is certainly an excellent addition to his collection.
