This was a great book for the history buff, but also was an enjoyable read in general too!

My daughter has loved the story of the Titanic since she was a little girl. I don't know what it is about the story that intrigues her but she is drawn to it, so when I received this, I knew she would devour the book and I was not mistaken. The nice things about this book is that it is relatable for the audience that it is written for. You really get to know some of the kids that were on the Titanic in a new and interesting way. The book is also written in a way to keep the reader on their toes as they try and see whether the kids will survive or not. This was a great book for the history buff, but also was an enjoyable read in general too!

He has authored over 40 books, including "Multivariate Data Analysis", Prentice-Hall, 7th edition, 2010 (cited 22,000+ times); "Marketing", South-Western Publishing Company, 12th edition 2012; "Essentials of Business Research Methods", M.E. Sharpe, 2011; "Research Methods for Business", Wiley, 2007; and "Essentials of Marketing Research", McGraw-Hill/Irwin, 3rd edition 2013. He also has published numerous articles in scholarly journals such as the "Journal of Marketing Research", "Journal of Academy of Marketing Science", "Journal of Business/Chicago", "Journal of Advertising Research", "Journal of Business Research", "Journal of Long Range Planning", "Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice", "International Marketing Review", "Journal of Experimental Education", "Business Horizons", "Journal of Retailing", "Multivariate Behavioral Research", and others. Barry J. Babin is currently Max P. Watson, Jr., Professor of Business and chair of the department of marketing and analysis at Louisiana Tech University. He has won numerous honors for his research, including the Louis K. Brandt Faculty Research Award from the University of Southern Mississippi (on three occasions), the 1996 Society for Marketing Advances (SMA) Steven J. Shaw Award, the 1997 Omerre Deserres Award for Outstanding Contributions to Retail and Service Environment Research, and the Academy of Marketing Science's Harold W. Berkman Distinguished Service Award. He is a former president of the Academy of Marketing Sciences and the Society of Marketing Advances, and he currently serves the marketing editor for the JOURNAL OF BUSINESS RESEARCH. Babin's research focuses on the effect of the service environment in creating value for employees and customers. His expertise is in building and understanding value that leads to long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with employees and customers. His primary teaching specialties involve consumers and service quality, marketing research, and creative problem solving. A frequent international lecturer, he has presented in Australia, South Korea, France, Germany, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

THE BEST REFERENCE FOR PHD STUDENT.....YOU ALL SHOULD HAVE ONE...

Multivariate data analysis is a central tool whenever several variables need to be considered at the same time. The present book explains a powerful and versatile way to analyse data tables, suitable also for researchers without formal training in statistics.
The analysis of multivariate data requires the extension of standard univariate statistical models and methods but also introduces new problems. Initial attention is given to Data Mining techniques such as summarising and displaying high dimensional data and to ways of reducing multivariate problems to more manageable univariate ones. This is followed by routine generalisations of standard distributions and statistical tests before consideration of new strategies for constructing hypothesis tests. Finally, problems specific to multivariate data such as discrimination and classification (use in medical diagnosis problems for example) are studied. Most of these methods can be implemented in standard computer packages.

This book shows that multivariate analysis are:
- Design for capability (also known as capability-based design)
- Inverse design, where any variable can be treated as an independent variable
- Analysis of Alternatives (A0A), the selection of concepts to fulfill a customer need
- Analysis of concepts with respect to changing scenarios
- Identification of critical design drivers and correlations across hierarchical levels.

The BEST stats book anywhere

This is my all time favorite stats book. It's very easy to read and yet is authoritative and comprehensive. The book is designed to promote a real understanding of the topic. Each chapter includes: glossary and quick overview at the beginning of the chapter, to orient the reader to the chapter; description of the theory; an application; example of programming code; summary. The writing style is clear and easy to follow. I first read this book in graduate school. I still turn to it as a refresher. If I could own only one multivariate book, this would be it.

The third edition organizes the coloring book in a more user-friendly way. Each section is introduced by a non-colorable page on which the various plates (map and text pages) of the section are outlined. This provides an overview of what lies ahead, and in the process makes the individual plates more meaningful.

The use of a very bold, non-colorable type face for various headings make identification of subject matter much easier—the balloon lettering of names and places, that is an essential part of the coloring system, is now used strictly for coloring purposes.

A dramatic new plate (67) has been added to the size comparisons section in which 20 of the most populated nations are listed. The previous plate just dealt with size based on area comparisons. Population figures are estimates through 2003, based on current rates of growth. At best, these are rough estimates; accurate figures, particularly in less-developed nations are unavailable, and birth rates are beginning to drop in almost all nations. There is still considerable population growth in the non-industrialized world, but increasingly at unexpectedly lower levels.

Space accorded to world thematic plates has been doubled to allow the reader to concentrate on a single theme for each plate. Although these plates appear in the rear of the book, they are important enough for you to consider reading them first, even if you don't wish to color them at the outset. Much of the terminology used throughout the book regarding weather, climate, wind patterns, ocean currents, varieties of vegetation, land use, population, race, languages, and religions, is given special attention in these thematic plates. Familiarization with their meaning can only enhance the use of the book.

The eight historic land empires—particularly the Islamic and Ottoman empires—take on additional importance in the age of international terrorism, which is currently a threat from militant groups within Islamic nations. The tenets of the Islamic religion are described in the text accompanying the maps. The use of modern maps in conjunction with empire boundaries helps the reader understand current cultural distinctions and conflicts.

The index / dictionary /quiz at the end of the book has been opened up with additional space inserted between each entry. This improvement makes the use of material that much easier when using the dictionary entries as the basis of a two-way quiz: trying to identify names associated with the definitions, or trying to define the entry names.

This book was helpful to a college student.. me!

I took a geography course about a year ago at Florida State University that required this book. The class and professor were very challenging (especially for an entry level course), and this book really helped me visually place my thoughts. I guess it also helps that I enjoy coloring and find it to be a stress-reliever in college. I think being able to color in the maps at your own preference, but still with the great organization that the book lays it out in for the reader really makes this book an excellent choice for anyone trying to better understand geography of all sorts.

Excellent Book!

My oldest son used this book in his 9th grade honors history class. At the time I thought that was odd, to have an honors student coloring. However, with all the budget cuts with schools, they have dropped History for 9th graders, which means no more Geography in high school. I have 2 daughters that are home schooled in 8th grade and I ordered this book so they could learn where the countries are. My son, that used this book, really knows his Geography well. I have just started with my girls on this book and it's awesome. They are learning countries they have never heard of, along with knowing where the countries are that they have heard of. It's very helpful to color the names of the country, then outline it, color it in, and read about it. I highly recommend this book. I am really enjoying learning the countries as well. There are plenty of places that I have heard of but can't quite place where they are exactly and this book is a fun way to figure that out.

Best required reading material I've ever been assigned. I thought it was funny that a coloring book was required for my geography class, at least until I actually looked through it. This book is loaded with useful information, maps that offer real insight into our world, and it's also super fun to color those maps. Whether you're required to complete this coloring book or not, I'd recommend it.

MMPPP v4 - end of 1st ark

I LOVE this volume! It features the end of the 1st ark and I cried while watching the episode and even when I read this after knowing what happened from the anime.

The first ark is genious and I love its end! To me, this was well worth every penny and I'm really glad I have it!

Meticulously written and illustated - a pleasure to use

A refreshing approach to teaching is reflected throughout The Complete Guide to Blender Graphics which is a book meticulously tailored for new Blender users. When learning to master the graphical user interface (GUI) with its access to the functions for modeling, rendering and animating beginners feel as if they have a patient instructor sitting beside them guiding them every step of the way.

Blender is a comprehensive program which includes modeling objects and characters, the application of colors and textures, the creation of scenes for still images and animations and rendering with Blender's inbuilt system or external render engines. The book explains the use of the interface and the many tools included in Blender in a step by step method which guides the student gently through the process.

Blender instructors, as well as students, welcome The Complete Guide to Blender Graphics because in addition to the detail and reliability of the content, the author has taken an empathetic approach towards teaching beginners. Each section is explained and illustated carefully yet succinctly, and because the basics of Blender remain constant, none of the information is obsolete. This is a unique instruction book for new Blender users as well as a valuable tool for Blender instructors. The high standard of the content makes this book a pleasure to use and to review.

Excellent Concept - Poorly Executed

Virtually everything I know is self-taught and I rely heavily on books. I actually like to read manuals. When I decided to learn Blender I was thrilled that a book was actually available somewhere. Blender books are very hard to find and the Blender site wiki is almost as intimidating as the program. I didn't hesitate to snatch up this book.

By all appearances, it is a beautiful book. The quality is top notch. The text is clear and the illustrations are perfect. Thus earning the two stars. When you go to use it, you'll quickly discover where the other three stars were lost.

This is not a book filled with tutorials, it is definitely a reference book. The contents do not flow very well and it almost seems to be written by someone without strong English skills. You would think that someone would have cleaned this up for such a high quality publication. It's not impossible to get through, just not the best.

The other issue is the material that is not here. Blender is extremely progressive and they make updates all the time. Recent updates are enormous and include Cycles and Bmesh. These are not trivial features. This is no fault of the author, it just happens. In the world of Blender this is a huge problem and in retrospect, now I understand why there aren't many Blender books.

Those two problems are annoying, but not a deal breaker. However, the biggest problem with this book is the index, it is awful. If you are familiar with most programming reference books, or "bibles", you'll know that the indexes are extensive and meticulous. The author knows that they are dealing with people that will need to refer quickly to a passage for a specific technique. How can you possibly find anything without this reference? For all I know, the book could be a complete treasure trove of information, but I don't have a photographic memory. I would never be able to find it again, if it did exist.

The last time I tried to use this book it ended in such utter frustration that I decided to use the Amazon Trade-In program and at least recoup some of my money. The book was simply worthless to me. If you are a book learner, like myself, you're out of luck with Blender. My best suggestion is a tutorial site like CG Cookie combined with the Blender wiki. Not ideal, but that's my conclusion.

This book is to be highly commended for teaching the basics of Blender modeling and animation in a clearly written, logical step by step method. It is a quality book which is user friendly from start to finish! It is an excellent book for getting started with Blender because the well written text is very easy to follow and is complemented by high quality images and diagrams. I recommend The Complete Guide to Blender Graphics to anyone wishing to learn computer modeling and animation using Blender and it would also be a great textbook tutorial or reference manual. I have no hesitation in giving this quality publication five stars.
